Links relating to the game we love, including ratings of some of the nation's best golf courses.
-
Golf Club Atlas
Great site for serious golf course design junkies. A few name architects like Tom Doak weigh in from time to time. Discussions can be a bit contentious.
-
Golf Vacation Insider
Formerly a helpful and frequently updated golf travel site. It still provides some information on golf vacations as well as short reviews and tee-time availability for thousands of golf courses. The site is now owned by Golf Channel.
-
GolfDash Blog
Dedicated to improving your game with great deals, news, reviews and "no BS commentary," according to the authors. Seems so to me.
-
Golfers Authority
If you can get past the occasionally annoying pop-up ads, consider it a comprehensive approach to golfing gear.
-
Golfweek Top Residential Courses
The most trustworthy overall golf course rankings, in our opinion, and the only reliable ratings for golf community layouts. Former architecture editor Bradley Klein set the standard for assessing golf courses' playability.
-
Jay Flemma's Golf Space Blog
Charmingly chaotic and personal, the way we like it. The man sure does play a lot of golf! His enthusiasm for the game is engaging.
-
North Carolina Golf Rating Panel
Like its South Carolina equivalent, the ratings for the golf rich state of North Carolina are the result of voting by regular Joe golfers. They don't have access to all the great courses -- some are too private to encourage non-member play -- but they play all the golf courses you and I have access to, and that's a lot.
-
PGA
Some sections of the site offer ideas about golf travel and reviews -- by non-professionals -- of golf courses. If you can get past the promotions for the game, some decent information.
-
South Carolina Golf Rating Panel
If you are traveling to South Carolina to play golf for a week, or moving to a home in a community to play golf for the rest of your life, trust rankings where the raters have no vested interest whatsoever. Rankings include best private courses, best public courses and best overall. Your editor is a member of the panel and happy to vouch for his fellow panelists' objectivity.
